The Phoktay Trek is considered moderate in difficulty. It involves 5-6 hours of trekking per day with ascents up to 1,200 meters. The trail is well-defined but involves steep sections. Suitable for beginners with reasonable fitness level and some trekking experience.
March to May (spring) offers rhododendron blooms and clear views. September to November (autumn) provides crisp air and excellent visibility. Avoid monsoon (June-August) due to heavy rainfall and leeches. Winter (December-February) can be very cold with possible snow.
We provide high-quality camping tents (2-3 person sharing) with sleeping bags, sleeping mats, and camping equipment. Tents are set up at designated campsites with basic toilet facilities. All camping equipment is provided - you only need personal items.
All meals during the trek are included. We provide nutritious, energy-packed meals: Breakfast (porridge, eggs, bread), Lunch (packed or hot depending on day), Dinner (soup, rice, dal, vegetables, sometimes meat). Special dietary requirements can be accommodated with prior notice.
Essential items: Trekking shoes, warm clothing layers, rain jacket, thermal wear, woolen cap, gloves, sunglasses, sunscreen, water bottle, headlamp, personal medications, toiletries, camera. We provide detailed packing list upon booking. Porters can be arranged for extra luggage.
